If you’re not familiar with java programming language syntax (or any other for that matter!), don’t worry; I’ll try my best to keep everything as simple & easy-to-understand as possible throughout this blog post series so each section builds up upon previous ones until we end at creating fully-fledged apps which can be published on the Play Store!

  • Once done, press ‘next’ once again until finally reaching the “add an activity to mobile development” dialogue box – here, we will select the default option of ‘Blank Activity and press next once again.
  • This should be enough for now – your project wizard window should look similar to mine at this point:
  • Now go ahead and build & run it by pressing the Run button, which looks like a play icon, or use shortcut keys (ctrl+R on windows/cmd + R on Mac) 🙂 We’re done! There’s not much going on yet, but you can already see that android studio is running an emulator instance in the background with our app loaded onto it just fine; if all goes well, then congratulations, you’ve successfully created your very first Android Application!!
